Why this…

One thing I must admit that we all love to watch good masaala movies. Sometimes, our obsession for such movies is of such an extent that they turn  out to be big blockbusters. I am proud of such audience that loves to watch such Hindi movies. It reflects that our film industry does not lag behind that of Hollywood.

But, irrespective of the fact that some movies deserve a great appraisal, such movies get thumbs down. What has happened to the audience? What has happened to their taste? Is it necessary that always a hero must have a six-pack abs to protect the others?

Some movies that are off the track have not been given much appraisal by the Indian audience. Movies like Gulaal and Mukhbiir are forced to die at the first day of release. Why is it so? Have we forgotten the talent of the actors involved?

This page is dedicated to a discussion on such broad issues.

  1. I think such off-track movies should be released in internet. It will make commercial sense for them. Multiplex is more and more becoming a place for commercial, masala movie. Also the cost of distribution, I understand is very high. Better make low cost movie, release in the net, make decent money.

Off beat cinemas need more promotion I guess. Besides, Indian Audience has a good taste for masala movies, and therz a niche market for Offbeat movies at the moment. Agressive promotion, positive stories, and value of actors need much highlight for their success. God post

Thanx for ur response. I agree with Shilpi that such movies need promotion. But in one or other way we are also responsible for this situation. We go for the pirated copies and there comes the ill-effects to such movies.
